It's getting to be late April and starting to green up in the woods. We are still hard at work doing stand prep on my newly acquired Minnesota business and properties. We've spent the last week hanging new stands on the properties, working on maintenance and prep on existing stands that I'm going to keep in their current location, and laying out food plots to plant this fall. In addition, we've been busy putting boots on the ground – scouting and learning as much as we can about these properties.
I'm getting a good handle on the deer movement and am super excited about this fall and all the new stand sets we've added. Only a couple more properties to finish up and then all my stand prep for the season is pretty much wrapped up, other than a few odds and ends. Once this is all done, we'll roll right into food plot season, and then to putting cameras out. I plant mostly late summer plots but I do plant a few spring plots consisting of soybeans, corn, and some clover plots.
August is when I plant most of my kill plots. For the last few years, I have been planting a mixture that has worked so well, it has now become my go-to seed mixture for hunting over. I want to give a shout out to all the people who have helped me this spring with stand prep! You guys know who you are, and I couldn't do it without you! I truly appreciate all the help and input. Stay tuned for spring planting updates as I'll be getting started with that soon!
